Peer Support and Family Peer Support Certificate Training

The Peer Support Training and Coordination Collaborative (PSTCC) will partner to provide a comprehensive training and certification program for Iowa’s Peer Support and Family Support Peer workforce. The Peer Support training program prepares persons with lived experience to be employed as specialists who provide support to adults who have experienced a loss of a significant role in his or her life due to the experience of serious mental or emotional disturbance, addiction, loss or trauma.

The Family Peer Support Training prepares parents with lived experience to provide support to other families whose child experiences a Serious Emotional Disability (SED).

Both programs focus on developing competencies, creating a network, and providing continuing education opportunities. The curricula emphasize communication skills, resiliency, advocacy, and community connections.  Advisory committees of persons with lived experience are active in the development of the program.
