The National Resource Center for Family Centered Practice (NRCFCP) was founded to conduct rigorous evaluation and research on topics related to child welfare, family support, and family preservation. Today, we remain committed to  this work, but also engage in extensive efforts to translate research into practice in areas such as  public health, education, justice, aging and substance use.

Our public health evaluation program is organized under the Center for Public Health Evaluation while our substance use work is under the Iowa Consortium for Substance Abuse Research and Evaluation umbrella. Through our research and evaluation work, we continually seek to better understand the factors that contribute to child, family, and community well-being.

NRC staff and faculty affiliates have extensive expertise in interdisciplinary research and evaluation methods. This facilitates our work with a wide variety of projects and stakeholders. All research and evaluation staff have completed University of Iowa Institutional Review Board (IRB) training for human subjects protections which conforms to federal requirements under the Federal Wide Assurance (FWA00003007) and the American Evaluation Association's Guiding Principles.
