Since we began as the first federally funded child welfare resource center, the NRC and its staff have worked in almost every facet of child welfare including prevention, family preservation, in-home services, permanency, adoption, paternal involvement, family group decision-making/family conferencing, permanent connections for youth transitioning out of foster care, positive youth development, reducing the over-representation of minority children and families in the child welfare system, maternal and child health and early childhood development, supportive housing and child welfare workforce development.
Our child welfare work incorporates research, evaluation, training, and technical assistance and assists with program development and implementation. This breadth of expertise facilitates a range of partnerships with state, federal and local public and private child welfare agencies who want to implement evidence-based practices and contribute to knowledge development in the field of child welfare.
